Fragrances and Natural Common Scents

fragrances

While shopping in certain areas or department stores, I know several people feel very uncomfortable, sometimes getting quite unwell with headaches, nausea and dizziness. It’s all the chemical fumes (fragrances) leaching out of fabrics and carpets (spayed with fire retardants, stain guards, or chemical dyes)—the fumes from glues used in various modern processes to make non-wood furniture. In addition, the perfume counter is full of synthetic smells wafting throughout the store.

A natural approach makes a healthy body, skin, and home possible. Replacing chemicals with pure essential oils can improve conditions like hormone imbalance, muscle aches, pains, headaches, energy levels, tension etc. Essential oils are powerful natural aromas, little powerhouses that have stood the test of time. They will amaze you when you change from harmful chemical synthetic perfumes and fragrances to these wonderful natural healing scents.

It’s possible to eliminate most chemicals from your home with a cwtch lifestyle. Swapping chemical-laden products for natural ones isn’t difficult.

Positive changes

A cwtch lifestyle can help you make some positive changes. By helping you make changes by being aware of the chemicals in your life, home and everything you put on your skin.

The commercial beauty business is called the “ugly business”, and the cleaning industry is called the “dirty industry” for a good reason.

The ugly beauty business

The word fragrance on personal care products means hidden chemicals. It’s a loophole. The company doesn’t need to reveal a list of ingredients under the name fragrance. Fragrances are a trade-secret formula, so they are exempt from having to list their ingredients.

It’s important to note that whatever you put on your skin, a large percentage will end up in your bloodstream.

Here are just three of the many ingredients in fragrances:-
1) Parabens are synthetic preservatives known to interfere with hormone production.
2) Phthalates are synthetic preservatives linked to decreased sperm counts, early breast development, plus liver and kidney damage.
3) Synthetic musks are linked to hormone disruption.

The dirty cleaning industry

Most cleaning products on supermarket shelves contain toxic chemicals that interrupt and interfere with the body’s natural processes. By inhaling them, they end up in our bloodstream. Or enter the bloodstream through your hands if handled without rubber gloves.
There are hundreds of chemicals in such products, too many to mention. How you or your family react to them will vary from person to person. As a naturopath, I have seen children’s asthma or breathing problems improve by removing all chemical-ladened products for natural ones.

Some people get a headache and feel sick sitting near someone wearing perfume, while others don’t notice anything. Children are more at risk due to their small size and less developed immune systems.

Fragrances are found in cleaning and beauty products, perfumes, air fresheners, scented candles, and more.

The good news

Today, it’s easy to find natural products that don’t contain all those chemicals. But, if you still want to use products with a scent, use pure natural essential oils. Making changes is healthier for you, your family, your pets, the environment, and our wildlife.
