DIY Christmas tree decorations

All the decorations on the Christmas tree were easy to make and very economical.

Pet-friendly natural Christmas tree. I have a little dog, so I made sure the type of tree I bought was pet friendly, as some are toxic to children and pets. This tree I have is a Fraser Fir with soft flat needles.

Dried Oranges a) I used my aga to dry the oranges slices b) however, you can dry them in an oven at a low temperature, leaving the door slightly ajar. c) a dehydrator would be ideal d) or buy the dried orange slices, which are very reasonably priced. The slices can also be used on wreaths, in bowls, make a garland or to decorate a wrapped gift. Lots of ideas, decorating with orange slices on Pinterest

Pine Cones I have collected pine cones over the years, but you can buy them.

Air-dried Clay This year was the first time I have used air-dried clay. It was much easier than I thought it was going to be. I used it to make those bell and bubble-shaped ornaments. You roll out the clay with a rolling pin or a bottle, use a cookie cutter and then allow them to dry naturally for a couple of days. It’s important to let the clay dry naturally. Otherwise, the decoration will warp. I found the cookie cutters in my local charity shop, but any good cook or craft shop will have them.

christmas simple macrame

Macrame Cotton Cord I chose some super simple macrame anyone can do. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube. Easy to find macrame cotton at your local craft store. I used mainly cream and a little grey.

Cinnamon Sticks I bought the whole cinnamon sticks online and then tied 3 or 4 together with a macrame cotton cord. If you don’t have cinnamon, collect thin sticks and cut them to a similar length as the cinnamon sticks. Then, bundle up a few and tie them up with some macrame cord.

Wooden Beads – The box I bought came in three sizes, ideal for what I wanted to make. Easy to find at a local craft store. I have seen garlands of wood beads which look good.

I hope you all have a fabulous 2022 Christmas, and I wish you well for 2023 with plenty of cwtch moments to savour.
