Cwtch Lifestyle – a way of being
It’s about sustainability, striving for balance and well-being, being inspired by nature, being more content with life’s simpler things, and embracing those cwtch moments.
Cwtch is a Welsh word pronounced “coo-ch, ” meaning a hug or safe place. It is very similar to the Danish word Hugge, pronounced “hu-ga, ” which also means a hug.
Today, both have become synonymous with a way to describe a JOYOUS scene, feeling, event, taste, celebration, moment in time, relationship, activity, and so much more.
Hi, I am Sonia Jones –

I have Welsh roots and remember several trips to Wales as a child. My strongest memories are of genuine warmth and embracing cwtch-ness.
Over the years, I have travelled extensively worldwide and lived in several different countries. I am now settled back in Britain because, as the saying goes, “there is nowhere like home.”
Now living in the West Country, on the Mendips, with my dog, Holly, a miniature pinscher.

I am a recently retired naturopath, nutritionist, and published author. Some years ago, I was diagnosed with coeliac disease, so gluten-free has been a regular part of my life.
My latest/last book (Oct 2021) was “The Little Book of Detox”.
Sewing since I was 10
I have been sewing, knitting, crocheting since I was about ten, and upcycling for many decades – it wasn’t called upcycling then. This experience has inspired me to create a range of products to help encourage us to embrace the visible “mend-darn-patch” of our clothes and household textiles. Being part of the movement that reignites a passion for preserving and personalising clothing—the imperfect, beautiful, visible mending, darning and patching.
Mending Darning a Creative Expression
Darning and mending are not just practical acts of repair but creative expressions that add character to our clothes. Embracing imperfections, celebrating the stories our clothes tell through each stitch, and fostering a more mindful and sustainable cwtch lifestyle. I am inspired by Japanese crafts, particularly the art of Boro, which aligns with my values of sustainability. Once used out of necessity, it is now used more creatively and decoratively with upcycled fabrics.
Slow Stitch Kits
I have been selling slow-stitch kits for some years now. Briefly, these kits contain high-quality vintage, upcycled, and rescued pieces, including cotton, linen, and silk fabrics, as well as lace, buttons, embroidery threads, beads, and more. They come in different colour themes. Slow stitching is a mindful process that is more about the meditative act of stitching than the outcome. The imperfect stitch, but the results are still beautiful.
